A real QC process has four checkpoints: incoming components, in-line inspection, final functional testing and packing check. Here is what each one means, where budget smartwatches actually fail, and how pre-shipment inspection protects your first order.
A factory quality process has four checkpoints, and you can ask a supplier to describe each one: incoming components (are screens and batteries checked before assembly), in-line inspection (is anything checked during production, not just at the end), final QC (what percentage of units are functionally tested), and packing check (does the box match the order). A supplier who can only say "we have QC" is describing a department, not a process.
Know where budget wearables actually fail and you know what to test: battery under real use (not spec-sheet capacity), Bluetooth pairing stability over time, strap and clasp durability, charger contact reliability, and screen bonding at temperature extremes. These five account for most returns in this category — and none of them show up in a product photo.
Pre-shipment inspection (PSI) means checking finished, packed goods before they leave the factory. Options range from the factory's own report to third-party inspection services (SGS, Bureau Veritas, TÜV and others) that you hire directly. For first orders with a new supplier, either insist on the factory's documented final QC report against your golden sample, or hire a third party — the cost is small next to a container of problems.
Define acceptable quality level before production: defect rate tolerance, what counts as a defect, sampling method (AQL-based sampling is the industry standard), and the remedy (replacement, repair at supplier cost, or credit). A quality clause that says only "good quality" protects nobody. Ask us for our QC documentation flow — we provide factory-issued QC reports with orders and welcome third-party inspection before shipment.
Send us the QC questions from this page. How we answer — specifically or vaguely — will tell you exactly what our process is worth.
PSI is checking finished, packed goods at the factory before they ship — function tests on a sample of units against your golden sample and the agreed quality level. It is the last point where problems are cheap to fix.
For first orders with a new factory, yes — or at minimum demand the factory's documented final QC report. Third-party inspection services (SGS, Bureau Veritas, TÜV and others) cost little next to a full order of problems.
Acceptance Quality Limit: an industry-standard statistical method where a random sample of the batch is inspected and the whole batch is accepted or rejected based on the defect count in that sample. It is the standard basis for a quality clause.
Battery under real use, Bluetooth pairing stability, strap and clasp durability, charger contact reliability, and screen bonding. Test all five in samples — none of them show up in a product photo.
